Drinking to Lose--Weight That Is!

So, one of my goals for the Hot 100 has been to drink at least 100 oz of water a day.  It's a part of my program (6 Week Body Makeover) that I have hardly ever been able to accomplish and lately I had completely fallen off drinking my water.  The thing about drinking water is that it has amazing benefits for weight loss.

I now have a three liter (100 oz) jug that I fill in the morning and drink throughout the day.  I've really noticed a difference in my appetite when I drink before I eat.  I've really been able to wait the three hour max, where I had been doing the minimum two.  I also feel like I have more energy.  My sweat is less salty.  You can tell a lot about how much salt you're ingesting by tasting your sweat.  Don't worry I'm not collecting and drinking it.  When I workout I taste my sweat.  Whenever I'm drinking the right amount of water my sweat taste like water, no saltiness.  (I also don't add salt to my food and cook with "No Salt Added" products.)  The final thing is that since I've been on this program I "relieve" myself a lot less.  It's a problem sometimes.  When I drink my water the problem is reduced greatly.

  1. A little love, my schedule for water. I use the 16.9 ounce bottles. I drink one when I get up, pre-pee. I fill it and drink the second right after I shower before dressing. I have the third refill before breakfast. I have the fourth right after breakfast. Number five is always right before lunch and number six is always right before dinner. Right there is 100 plus ounces. Works for me, yours sounds great too, I like the small ones and finishing them...

  2. I am making an effort to drink more water. Right now my goal is at least 64oz, but I think I can do more.

  3. @Allan--I wish I could do that. It's like I need the big jug right in my face so I don't forget:-) It's a bear to lug around though, I would love the little bottle.

@Bubba--In the article I linked to it said to drink 1 oz per 2 pounds as a good guide for water consumption to help with weight loss. I know it's hard getting it in though. I used to think I drank a lot of water and was a good water drinker. It's tough though.

  4. Drinking more water RIGHT NOW!

I've never thought of tasting my sweat (and since I've only recently started working out to the point of sweating - YEAH - this is all new to me). But I do know this: I've always been heavy on the salt until I gave that up last year to decrease migraines. And my sweat has always been ... well ... very concentrated, let's put it that way. So I am intensely curious to see where more regular sweating and more water are going to bring me. If I can solve this one challenge in my life - to sweat less offensively - I'd be sooooo happy.
